Hills under observation during rainy season

Landslides, cracks and displacements are some of the problems affecting several hills of the capital and beyond. Therefore scientists keep a close watch on them.

The communities installed on the slopes of the hills of Lajas in Escazú, Santiago in Puriscal, Chitaría in Santa Ana, Tablazo in Desamparados or Burío in Aserrí, live in precarious conditions.

According to Julio Madrigal, a geologist from the CNE, the damage in buildings and stairs is evident, and both families and emergency committees are aware of the risks, especially during the rainy season, which is expected to arrive with the influence of La Niña, between August and September.
