In the face of the beginning of mid-term vacations, hotels report only 64% occupancy.
This figure is lower than in previous years because the population is still awaiting the implications of VAT and because families usually wait until the last days to book, according to the Chamber of Hotels.
The areas where they still have more space are the South Pacific (61%), Puntarenas (60%), Central Valley (58%) and Central Pacific (52%).
For this half year, almost half of the hotels have promotions available to attract vacationers. Some offer benefits such as attractive tours and spa use,”
said Flora Ayub, director of the Chamber.
The geographical region with the most reservations so far is that of the Northern Plains with 79%, followed closely by the Caribbean with an occupation of 78%.
On the other hand, Guanacaste, which has a high concentration of hotel rooms, reports an occupation of 65%.
