Hurricane Irma was downgraded to Category 2 after touching land for the second time in Florida, according to US meteorologists, who warned that it is still capable of producing deadly tidal waves.
At 3:00 on Sunday, the hurricane had winds of up to 177 kilometers per hour, the top of a category 2 hurricane, with the eye only five miles north of Naples, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC).
These winds can be felt within a radius of 130 kilometers from the eye of the hurricane, while winds associated with a tropical storm sit within a radius of 350 km, added the NHC.
After continuing along the coast to the north, Irma is expected to go further inland in northern Florida and reach Southwest Georgia on Monday afternoon.
