The Governing Council extended the suspension of the Board of Directors of the National Electricity Institute (ICE) for two more months, due to the investigation against them for allegedly anomalous decisions in the 2014-2018 period.
The Secretariat of the Council, which conducts the ordinary administrative procedure against the six directors, made the decision to extend the term of the suspension because there are pending procedural steps.
On May 8th, the Governing Council decided to reject an appeal against the extension of the suspension filed by Farid Beirute Brenes and Irma Pérez Guevara, two of the directors suspended and investigated.
Four of the members of the board of directors were investigated because they allegedly gave their approval for the undue payment of unemployment to ICE employees who moved from the Digital Government Division to Radiográfica Costarricense SA (Racsa) and to the Collection Management Company. SA, subsidiaries of ICE.
The other case, which investigates the six senior managers of ICE, has to do with the suppression of the figure of the General Management of the autonomous entity, as well as the subsequent appointment of the interim general manager of the Institute.
The suspended directors of ICE are Ruth Martínez Cascante, Farid Beirute Brenes, Rodrigo Bogarín Navarro, Eugenia Guitiérrez Castro, José Mario Jara Castro and Irma Pérez Guevara .
