Throughout last week, the tourist attractions of Costa Rica were exhibited in one of the main neighborhoods of Madrid in Spain through a video with virtual reality technology.
Thousands of Spaniards who passed through the Salamanca district, experienced in the tour “Feel Costa Rica: 360 degrees of pura vida,” which transported them to the Caribbean beaches, a tour of a rain forest cable car and even a bike ride amidst waterfalls, thanks to special lenses.
The virtual station was placed in the Thematic Week of Costa Rica, which took place from September 24th to 29th. The activities included a series of talks, children’s workshops, a jungle corner, gastronomy spaces with Costa Rican coffee and a space to take pictures with different backgrounds of Costa Rican landscapes.
Ireth Rodríguez, head of ICT promotion, said the activity is part of a project developed with the support of the public relations agency Blueroom that provides services in Spain.
The Spanish market represents one of the main markets for tourists in Europe. In 2017, Costa Rica received the visit of 69,782 Spaniards. European tourists represent 15.6% of all international arrivals in the country.
