The Joint Institute for Social Aid (IMAS) bet on productive ideas driven by senior citizens.
To this end, the institution has included several senior citizens in training processes and training programs, as explained by the executive president of the organization, Emilio Arias.
They are given courses on empowerment and enterprise development or productive ideas. Generally, they are men who are starting their golden years (barely above 65 years),”
said Arias.
The IMAS hierarch said that trainings are provided by officials of this entity, the National Institute for Women (INAMU) and NGOs.
During the first half of this year, this institution has trained 10 senior citizens and supported five productive ideas from this population.
IMAS added that the beneficiaries of this program not necessarily have to be alone, but may have a family to care or be cared for in a nursing home, as long as they are in good health conditions.
The entity provides this training to beneficiaries of Puente al Desarrollo and, in the process, it provides them with transportation, if required.
