In order to demonstrate the cultural richness of Jacó, the Artify Jacó and Jacó City Art Tour project invite locals and foreigners to rediscover this area from another perspective, through more than 20 murals located in different parts of the district and that represent their nature, history and art.
The murals are part of the Artify Project, which since the year 2017 has worked on the creation of the Gallery of the Giants, a set of various artistic pieces, painted in large buildings of Jacó. These works are part of the efforts made by this micro-organization of volunteers to support local artists, install public art in this crowded destination and involve the community,”
said Wendy Greenwald, co-director of the project.
The murals are created by different artists that the organization finances through its sponsors and donations; and they express in multiple ways the culture, history and nature of the area, depending on the vision of each artist.
The most recent murals were painted in February, but the project plans to continue adding more murals, mainly concentrated in the Pastor Díaz Avenue, in downtown Jacó.
To be able to promote this project and show people Jacó from another perspective, the Jacó City Art Tour was created hand in hand with Artify Jacó. It provides bike tours are to where the murals are, while the guides share details of the history and nature of the song, captured in each of the pieces.
To continue with the project, the organization has different support mechanisms, from contributions, to giving permission to paint a mural in their building, sponsorships to finance the artists, donation of services such as lodging and food for them, among others.
