The National Emergency Commission (CNE) gave a series of recommendations to follow in case of a thunderstorm, due to forecasts by the National Meteorological Institute (IMN).
Even if you do not fear lightings, it is important that you take these advices and avoid being a victim:
Do not stay in an open vehicle during a storm.
Do not climb under isolated trees.
In case of a storm, do not lie on the floor.
Avoid using metal umbrellas, caps with medals, chains and metal objects.
Stay away from rivers, lakes or bodies of water.
At 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, the IMN’s electric shock sensor had 94 lightning strikes in the Greater Metropolitan Area alone.
