On Monday, the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INEC) reported that accumulated inflation for the period January-April 2017, measured through the Consumer Price Index (CPI), rose to 0.70%.

One-fifth of this figure has to do with the price variation last April. Last month, electricity services, the cost of vehicles and tours packages increased in price. Avocados, buses, gasoline and deodorants also reported increased prices.

On the other hand, tomatoes, onions, potatoes, cabbage, papaya, eggs and liquefied gas were lowered in price.
According to INEC, the group of goods and services related to Transportation has the highest impact on the variation of the Index.

Regarding the last 12 months, the cumulative variation is 1.64%, the second lowest of the last decade for the month of April.

According to the Central Bank, accumulated inflation at the end of December would be around 3%.
