Due the arrival of Hurricane Otto, several institutions have announced not only the closure of their branches in areas where it could more strongly impact, but also in other areas of the country.
The Bank of Costa Rica (BCR) informed that all the offices of the capital are open, except some that are located inside some public institutions.
On November 23rd, BCR decided to close its offices in Turrialba, Pococí, Sarapiquí, Batán, Cahuita, Cariari de Guápiles, Guácimo, Guápiles Urbana, Limón Centro, Pocora, Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, Siquirres, Venecia de Carrandi, Municipality of Limón, Municipality of Pococí, Río Jiménez, Subaste Ganadera-Gasol, Ganadero-Guápiles and Ganadera-Palermo.
This measure was extended until November 25th to the offices of the BCR in the South Pacific, such as Buenos Aires, Montegeneral, Palmares Norte, Puerto Jiménez, Golfito, Ciudad Neilly, San Vito and Paso Canoas.
In the Central Pacific, the bank closed Monteverde, Malpaís, Orotina, Esparza, Puntarenas, El Roble, Jacó, Playa Herradura, Parrita, Quepos, Manuel Antonio and la Uvita.
In the area of San José, the only closed office is located in Pérez Zeledón.
In the West, the closed agencies are those of Zarcero, Naranjo, San Ramón and Grecia.
In Guanacaste, BCR closed the offices of Upala, La Cruz, Peñas Blancas.
In the north zone, the agencies of Aguas Zarcas, Pital, Río Cuarto de Grecia, Monterrey, Fortuna, Santa Rosa de Pocosol, Ciudad Quesada, Florencia y Puerto Viejo de Sarapiquí are closed.
The offices of the Kristal Bank of Ciudad Quesada and Limón are also closed.
Banco del pueblo and Banco de Desarrollo Comunitario are also closed.
The National Registry in Zapote’s headquarters and all the regional offices throughout the country are closed because of the holiday decreed by the Government.
The ferry services offered from Puntarenas to Paquera and Playa Naranjo keep their normal operation but, if necessary, the services will be suspended.
ICE reported that the following ICE agencies and Kölbi stores are closed:
Batán, Cariari, Siquirres, Guápiles, Guácimo, Ticabán, Río Frío, Los Chiles, Guatuso, Upala, La Cruz, Tortuguero, Limón Centro, La Fortuna, Aguas Zarcas , Puerto Viejo (Sarapiquí), Shop kölbi Tablillas (border crossing), Shop kölbi City Quesada and Shop kölbi Plaza Quizatlan (Guápiles).
Other institutions that took the same measure were the Supreme Electoral Court that ordered the closure of 32 offices across the country.
The universities that also joined this measure are the University of Costa Rica (UCR), National University (UNA), National Technological University (UTN), National University of Distance Education (UNED) and the Technological Institute of Costa Rica (TEC).
INS reported that the services are suspended, resuming regular care on November 28th. In this way, the health centers that remain closed are those located in the following communities: Limón, Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, Batáan, Siquirres, Guápiles, Pital, Ciudad Quesada, San Ramón, Grecia, Puntarenas, San Isidro Pérez Zeledón, City Neilly, Golfito and Filadelfia.
In the case of scheduled elective appointments, they will be re-scheduled. In addition, health centers that are not included on this list and Uruca Complex Uruca (Trauma Hospital) keep their regular schedules.
Several private schools are also closed.
