Insurance policies for improvised bullfighters will cost ₡ 23,586, to provide a coverage of 3 million colones, after the National Insurance Institute (INS) and the Federation of Events Taurinos agreed on a collective policy.
The possibility for a collective policy was opened. This also implies a series of safety measures and control measures for improvised bullfighters. Therefore, it is possible for the INS to offer an improvement in the price to the associations that belong to that Federation,”
said Elián Villegas, executive president of the INS.
With this, the price of the policy is now ₡ 23,586 per run and not ₡ 31,450, as it was originally contemplated for 2016.
Last year, the policy cost less than 5,000 colones and only covered ₡ 300,000 colones, so the authorities emphasize that now they can provide better care for those who need it. Bullfights are expected to start on December 25th.
