Intel’s Mega lab completes 2 years of operations in the country

The operations of the transnational Intel have been refocused on the design of the technology that is manufactured outside the Costa Rican borders, after ceasing the construction of microprocessors in the country two years ago.

We are working on the technology that the market will see in 2018,”

said Sergio Pacheco, a member of the company’s Research and Development Center.

The Research and Development Center went from having 430 employees in 2014 to 900 today. They have been working in the design of circuits for different areas, such as servers, data centers, Internet of things, mobile technology and desktop computers.

The Mega laboratory, in addition, has worked in the country as an anchor point for the transition from manufacturing to design.

Remotely, the needs of other transnational operations centers, such as those located in Poland, Israel, Malaysia, Mexico and the United States, are also taken care of.

Timothy Scott, public relations manager for Intel Costa Rica, stated that the company has developed a good relationship with universities to add to their syllabuses courses that are important in order to work for the company.
