The 499,693 international arrivals by air in January and February previously confirm a robust high season and an increase of 7.8% compared to the arrivals of January and February 2018. These values for January and February 2019 are the highest the in last six years.
In January 2019 there were 248,754 international arrivals to Costa Rica by both international airports, Juan SantamarĂa and Daniel Oduber. That amount represents an increase of 9.2% compared to January 2018, when there were 227,694 arrivals.
One month later, the percentage increase in arrivals by air was 6.4% and amounted to 250,939, that is, 15.109 more than in February 2018.
Minister of Tourism MarĂa Amalia Revelo said that a month ago, at the ITB tourism fair in Berlin, the airlines that connect Europe with Costa Rica expressed their total complacency with the results they have obtained in recent months of operations to Costa Rica.
Whereas in 2006 Costa Rica had only one indirect flight to Europe, currently, there are eight airlines offering flights between Europe and Costa Rica, seven of them directly and one with a scale.
