International Folklore Festival will open with gala of 12 countries

The VIII International Festival of Couple’s Dance (Danzpare) will have an opening gala in San José with the expressions of Latin American dance partners as well as guests from Russia and the Middle East.

Danzpare is a program of the Association of Folklore Festivals and Traditional Arts of Costa Rica “Folk International Group” and the Dance and Traditional Association of Costa Rica (Tiquicia Group) that annually gathers the most outstanding international artists without leaving for out to the nationals.

The festival will feature performers of the highest quality heritage dance in the world, becoming an event that allows interaction through couple’s dancing and provides a message to learn the roots of each town.

The dancers come from Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Uruguay, Russia, Syria and Lebanon. Costa Rica will be represented by two couples: Wilberth Moya and Jeisy Vargas, and Kevin Aguilera and Raquel Fallas, who belong to the renowned Tiquicia folklore group.

The opening of the festival will be on Tuesday, May 15th at 7:30 p.m. at the Eugene O’Neill Theater of the North American Costa-Rican Cultural Center in Barrio Dent.

The cost of the tickets is ₡ 5.000 and can be acquired the day of the event in the ticket office of the theater or by reservation via the telephones 2207-7561 or 8340-5832.

The direction and general production of the festival is in charge of Mr. Hans Leitón and the artistic direction is in the hands of Estelle Zaghloul.

This 8th edition of the festival will continue until next week in different locations.
