The Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica of the National University (OVSICORI-UNA), reported that until 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, 30 earthquakes were located in the vicinity of Irazú Volcano.
According to the volcanologists, seismicity is associated with a local fault that recurrently registers seismic activity.
They also indicated that with the passage of time, activity tends to decrease in quantity of and magnitude.
Irazú is one of the five active volcanoes of the country, followed by Poás, Rincón de la Vieja, Turrialba and Arenal volcanoes.
