From January to September of this year, jobs in the commercial sector grew 5% compared to 2015. This means that about 3,500 new jobs were created, and the sector expects to grow 4.1% more at the end of 2016.
Commerce continues to be the area with the most employment, with about 250,000 workers, which represents 15% of the total labor force,”
said Yolanda Fernández, head of the Chamber of Commerce of Costa Rica
According to Jason Cháves, economic adviser of the organization, the dynamism of the sector foresees greater economic growth.
At the moment the subsectors that are growing the most are vehicles’ importation, with 13.5%, white goods stores with 4.95%, and food and beverages, with 4.4%.
