Judge loosens precautionary measures for ‘Macho Coca’

Following a hearing held on August 8th, a judge issued a change of action against a man named Bell, also known as ‘Macho Coca’, who is under investigation for apparent drug offenses.

Bell, who was arrested in October 2015, was released on precautionary measures on April 8th, on the condition he complied with the following terms: a daily appearance to sign before the prosecutor, not visiting San José and not dealing with boats or approaching 100 meters from a port.

However, Macho Coca’s lawyer requested a change in the imposed measures and the request was accepted by the Criminal Court of San José.

Now, Bell must sign every 15 days, he can visit the capital and also board vessels that are on land near a port, but more than 100 meters away from it.

The prohibition of committing new crimes remains, as well as not leaving the country, or communicating with any of the defendants in the case.

The subject is under investigation for apparently transferring cocaine and marijuana between Limón and San José.

However, the man’s importance started last year for the construction of an illegal dock in Portete Limón and a questionable meeting with the then Labour Minister Victor Morales Mora and Ann McKinley, chief of the Board of Port Administration and Development of the Atlantic Coast (JAPDEVA).
