Once again, the judiciary obtained the first place as the best evaluated public institution in terms of transparency on its website.
According to the Index of Transparency in the Costa Rican Public Sector (ITSP), the Judiciary obtained a perfect score (100 points), since its web system is friendly, fast-accessible, with open data and allows citizen participation.
The second place went to the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) with 98.06 points, followed by the Fire Department with a score of 97.30, and the fourth place to the University of Costa Rica (UCR) with 96.81 points.
This evaluation has been promoted by the Ombudsman’s Office for 5 years and has the support and data analysis of the Center for Research and Training in Public Administration of the UCR (CICAP-UCR), with the aim of promoting an institutional culture oriented towards good practices of access to information.
Catalina Crespo, Ombudsman, welcomed the institutions to worry about making constant improvements , because that means a huge benefit for citizens.
Orlando Hernández, Director of CICAP-UCR highlighted the Municipality of Montes de Oca and the Ministry of Security, as they were the ones who managed to climb positions.
Marcel Soler, Mayor of Montes de Oca, said the results are part of the digitalization process,
the step that has been taken is very important because citizens deserved better access to municipal information and technological facilities to make payments and paperwork, and we delivered.”
