After many requests and legal appeals, national authorities decided to move lion Kivú to a new house: Zoo Ave rescue center animal, in Alajuela.
Undoubtedly, this change is a Christmas gift, because it was made to offer a better quality of life to Kivú, an 18-year-old lion at Simón Bolívar Park.
Its new home will be located in an area surrounded by nature and Kivú will no longer be displayed to the public.
Environment minister Édgar Gutiérrez explained that the relocation of the Lion was risky because of its old age, but authorities decided to take the risk.
Now it is expected that the lion live the rest of its days quietly in an adequate space and away from the stress that caused him to be on display for visitors.
