Even though its lava eruptions are not that noticeable, Turrialba volcano has presented lava emanations and they are likely to continue.

Eliécer Duarte, from the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI) said that these eruptions are likely to be repeated with hot and incandescent blocks.

The expert informed that it is unknown how long those conditions will continue:

We’re already seeing it. If we compare it to Arenal volcano, it was a different process because it was abrupt, but Turrialba volcano has come with a gradual process. As a result, we are seeing how the material comes from the cavity and it is probable that it repeats for a while.

On Monday morning, the volcano recorded two ash eruptions that reached 1,000 meters height above the crater and in which it also expelled incandescent material.
