Leader of Partido de Liberación Nacional asked her colleagues not to go to Nicaragua

Maureen Clarke, head of Partido de Liberación Nacional (PLN), asked her legislators not to be part of the paid trip promoted by the National Assembly of Nicaragua in order to visit that country over the weekend.

Clarke declared that she sent a note to the 18 congressmen, which was addressed to her by former Minister and legislator Fernando Berrocal, in which he described the tour as an atrocity for history and democratic values after the electoral farce that took place in Nicaragua.

That kind of behavior only generates disapproval and rejection among Costa Ricans,

added Berrocal in the note.

The tour is financed by the National Assembly of Nicaragua, which is ruled by Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN), and the Forum of Presidents of Legislative Powers of Central America and the Caribbean (FOPREL).
