By a large majority, the Legislative Plenary approved on Monday to immediately begin the discussion on the report by the special commission of the Congress that investigated the cementazo scandal.
Fifty legislators voted in favor of starting the discussions on the report on Monday, which will last for two weeks and will be voted no later than January 18th at 11:59 p.m. The motion did not count on the votes of legislators Nidia Jiménez, from the Citizen Action Party (PAC), or Ligia Fallas and José Ramírez, from Frente Amplio.
Before the motion was voted, Jiménez expressed doubts, while Fallas and Ramírez argued that in the Plenary there are more than 50 investigative committee reports that have not been discussed or voted on.
The cementazo report will be discussed between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, and on Wednesdays, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
