Legislative Assembly receives Ombudsman ressignation letter

On Monday, the Legislative Assembly received the resignation of the Ombudsman of the Republic, Montserrat Solano.

Solano wrote a letter addressed to the legislators saying:

personal and professional considerations lead me to put an end to that impasse, in a thoughtful and prepared decision for months. It is not an untimely decision, so I enclose the management report, as required by Article 12, paragraph e of the Internal Control Law. […] I have accumulated unforgettable experiences in the service of those people to whom, without the Ombudsman’s Office, the institutions would not pay attention, and I have had the opportunity to share struggles with people highly committed to the well-being of the country, people who currently provide services in the Ombudsman’s Office, but also in other trenches.”

Solano was elected with 29 votes in favor from legislators on September 9th, 2014. Now, the Legislative Assembly has one month to elect the new head of the institution.
