Rosibel Ramos, legislator from the Christian Social Unity Party (PUSC), denounced on Tuesday that the Committee on Fiscal Affairs of the Congress will endorse an extraordinary budget that contains squandering of resources.
The social-Christian woman pointed out that 846 new positions were included in the expenditure plan for the National Children’s Patronage (PANI) and others allocated to other institutions.
The legislator said that the alliance of parties that controls the Committee imposed by the president of the Congress, Gonzalo Ramírez, prevented the cuts to the extraordinary budget.
However, the Citizen Action Party (PAC) accused the PUSC and the National Liberation Party (PLN) of trying to cut funding in social aid for children and families in poverty.
The motions raised by the PUSC and by the PLN were rejected by the Commission.
The president of that legislative body, Paulina Ramírez, said that the PLN is concerned that the Government intends to include more resources to fight poverty, without technical studies demonstrating the impact of social programs.
