Legislator from National Restoration waives his immunity

National Restoration legislator Giovanni Gómez decided to present the waiver of his immunity after being questioned for allegedly trying to evade a trial against illegal logging.

The legislator informed of his decision this Monday, after a long meeting with his colleagues. According to Gómez, he does it to clarify this and end the judicial process against him.

He is being investigated due to a case of alleged illegal logging for which there was already a scheduled trial. However, he missed the trial scheduled for two weeks before he took office as a legislator and also missed an appointment ordered by Forensic Medicine, just a couple of days before taking possession of his seat. With this he managed to evade the conclusion of the trial.

Now the procedure establishes that the communication must be known by the Supreme Electoral Tribunal and the legislative plenary so that it endorses the decision of the legislator.
