National Liberation Party legislator Franggi Nicolás believes that the so-called fiscal gap case must lead to an investigation by the Public Ministry.
Nicolás asked the commission to work on a list of facts that explain the case and “testimony pieces” for the responsibility of the Solís administration in the shortfall of more than 900 billion colones.
Jonathan Prendas, president of the legislative committee, stated that all the work has been completed in a matter of one week. In this regard Luis Guillermo Solís requested that they think things through, although he fears that the decision has already been made.
I do not accept having committed any crime or actions that violate domestic law. I appeal to tranquility. I see that the decision was made to send this to the Public Prosecutor’s Office and it could have consequences in international markets,”
said the former president.
The commission expects to have a report on the case in about a week.
According to Solís, he is not responsible for the debacle in debt swaps that occurred after his intervention on a television network in August last year. Once again, he justified the use of the word crisis, because it was what was feared.
