On Thursday, the Legislative Assembly approved in the second reading a bill that will allow the use of water from protected areas for human consumption.
The initiative will empower the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MINAE) to grant permits to operators of the public water service to install infrastructure and authorize the use of water resources located in protected areas.
But for this, it must first have the technical criteria of the Costa Rican Institute of Aqueducts and Sewers (AyA).
