Some legislators feel the memorandum of understanding on education, signed by the leaders of Costa Rica and Cuba in that area, is worrisome.
The document was signed by Édgar Mora, Minister of Public Education and Danilo Sánchez, ambassador of Cuba to the country on April 29th.
Mora argued that this is an agreement to exploit possible links and research “on what works here and what works there” in education, therefore, this type of memorandum is common.
But, those beautiful words do not fall well with the legislators. Independent Erick Rodriguez sees it as very dangerous and argued that the failed revolution has wanted to export its model to other countries, including Venezuela, causing citizens from both countries to leave their home.
He was more inclined to sign this agreements with countries such as Germany or Finland, taking into consideration that Costa Rica is on the verge of dual education, a model that has been successful in those countries.
