Legislators from four political parties declared that the millionaire overpayment incentives that three vice ministers received are corruption since the officials didn’t deserve them.
They declared so because president Solís assured that the payments granted to vice ministers Ana Gabriel Zúñiga, Ana Cristina Trejos, and Carmen Muñoz, who didn’t meet the requirements, are not corruption, but administrative issues.
Lawmakers Ronny Monge, from Partido de Liberación Nacional (PLN), Mario Redondo, from Alianza Democrática Cristiana (ADC), Otto Guevara from Movimiento Libertario and Gerardo Vargas Rojas, from Partido Unión Social Cristiana (PUSC) rejected Solís’ statements and argued that they are cases of corruption in the civil service.
I think it is not only corruption, but also ignorance of the law. In Costa Rica, labor rights are inalienable. If deputy minister Zúñiga says that she has a labor right, she cannot give it up and the government says she is doing so,
declared Monge.
Guevara stressed that it is “corruption” and that Zúñiga was receiving a salary payment bonus that she didn’t deserve because she does not meet the requirements.
The President can say whatever he wants. A person pays ¢ 30 million to those who are not entitled to and the President says that it is not corruption. I want to know what it is then. In the past, it was called it corruption,
