Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport, in Liberia, Guanacaste, resumed normal operation at 4:00 pm on Saturday, as confirmed by the Civil Aviation authorities.
The airport had closed its operation hours before noon this Saturday after the runway had an asphalt detachment. But the authorities even completed the repair an hour earlier than expected.
As a result of the unexpected event, it was reported that 8 flights that had to change their route to other airports such as El Coco, in Guanacaste, Juan Santamaría, and Alajuela.
The flights that failed to land due to this problem are from companies such as American Airlines, United Airlines, WestJet, Southwest and Jetblue.
It is unknown how many passengers were affected by the inconvenience.
