Legislator and presidential pre-candidate of Movimiento Libertario Natalia Díaz stated that the proposal to open the border with Nicaragua, made by her counterpart and vice-president of the Legislative Assembly José Alberto Alfaro, is impossible.
In a statement, the legislator indicated that it is not possible to do so at the moment due to the socioeconomic conditions of both countries that produce a one-way migration flow.
Costa Rica is a country with a democratic tradition, with governments elected by popular will and transparency in suffrage. Diplomatic relations between Costa Rica and Nicaragua are deteriorated, so it is not the time to make a decision in that regard,
explained Díaz.
Alfaro, who organized the questioned tour of 12 Costa Rican legislators to Nicaragua, made his statement in front of Nicaraguan members of Parliament.
