The members of the Libertarian Movement, Otto Guevara, Natalia Díaz and José Alberto Alfaro, presented two bills to sell the shares of Banco Crédito Agrícola de Cartago (Bancrédito) or to transfer them to the Bank of Costa Rica (BCR).
According to the libertarian bank, the financial situation of Bancrédito is unsustainable and it is clear that it is not in a position to design a contingency plan with sustainability criteria.
The previous and current governments have allowed it to keep afloat. The last “lifesaver” was launched by the National Bank of Costa Rica,
stated the legislators.
There is no reason to explain the existence of Bancrédito, beyond the irresponsibility and satisfaction of the last governments and in general, of a political class that has not yet understood the meaning and the implications of the reform of the Costa Rican State. The deterioration of this bank is obvious. Apparently, this government has been committed to keep it open at any cost, even to the detriment of the interests of the community and the national financial system,
said Otto Guevara, head of the libertarian faction.
