Lifeguards work to rescue a 29-year-old Englishman who got lost in Rincón de la Vieja Volcano National Park.
According to Ricardo Hernández, a paramedic in the area, the tourist was the one who notified 911 that he was lost.
This happened after noon today (Tuesday) and at 4:30 in the afternoon it was the last time we spoke with him, but he is in good health. The Red Cross and Rangers coordinated a search operation and they contacted us to consider the possibility of a helicopter evacuation tomorrow, since this person reported he has no water or shelter. However, the rescuers had contact with him tonight for sound… they spoke and shouted at each other,”
said Hernandez.
We suggested he kept his phone in a bag so that it was safe from the elements and we told him where to look for water to hydrate. He pointed out the coordinates of where he is and our colleagues from Liberia are heading there,”
