During the regular session several members of the Legislative Assembly presented a motion to condemn Wednesday’s violence against several Venezuelan parliamentarians, who were beaten by a group of people who entered the Assembly headquarters in that country.
However, it was not possible to hear the motion because the members of Frente Amplio, led by Ligia Fallas prevented it. This was denounced by the head of the National Liberation Party, Karla Prendas, who said that they can not violate the right to file motions in Congress.
We cannot take this position. We have to respect the right to be in favor or against something. We cannot allow violations to the right of a legislator to present a motion,”
said Prendas.
The session had to end at 5 p.m. and with 15 minutes left, there were 10 legislators who requested the floor, six of them from Frente Amplio.
Ligia Fallas, Suray Carrillo, Jorge Arguedas, Carlos Hernández, José Ramírez and Gerardo Vargas requested the floor to talk about various issues, which prevented progress on the agenda.
Prendas was emphatic that from now on she will not give her support to any of the projects presented by Frente Amplio and assures they will present the motion again to condemn the violence that continues to lash Venezuela.
