On Wednesday, 156 people still remained in shelters, after the storm that affected the country, especially the Pacific region, last week. The National Commission of Emergencies (CNE) indicated that 2,700 people needed shelters, eight of which are still open.
According to Lorena Romero, director of Risk Management at the CNE, many of the families have returned to their homes after the cleanup work. However, other cases will be intervened by the Joint Institute of Social Assistance (IMAS), because the damage is irreversible.
Currently, the authorities are working to provide humanitarian aid, through actions such as food distribution or water supply in those areas where there was damage to the Administrations Associations of Aqueduct and Sanitary Sewer Systems (ASADAS).
Lorena Romero, Risk Management Director, indicated that the CNE maintains the red and yellow alerts in the Costa Rican Pacific, in the face of two new tropical waves that will affect the country starting on Thursday.
