Days ago, president Luis Guillermo Solís received a letter from former president Luis Alberto Monge, in which he apologized in advance for his absence in the celebration of the anniversary of the abolition of the army.
Monge’s reasons for his absence were health issues. Death surprised the former president on November 29th.
Solís read the letter during his speech at Plaza de la Democracia and honored Monge’s memory.
I pay tribute to the memory of Don Luis Alberto Monge,”
