Man tried to run over police officer to flee with smuggling of liquor

A man named Rodriguez, who was traveling with about 1,700 units of liquor illegally brought into the country, was arrested by the security forces.

The incident occurred on Saturday morning in Limoncito of Coto Brus, during a roadblock performed by the security forces in the border with Panama.

Rodríguez not only disrespected the stop sign by the police, but also tried to run over an officer who got off the patrol to signal him to stop.

Since he was driving at a high speed, the offender went out of the way and was immediately arrested.

After inspecting the vehicle, the police discovered that it was a cargo valued in more than five million colones.

By order of the prosecutor on duty, the suspect was placed on the order of the Coroner’s Flagrant Prosecutor’s Office, where he could be tried for aggravated resistance.

Meanwhile, the cargo was placed at the disposal of the customs authorities.
