Men and people with heart diseases are the most common victims of respiratory infections

If you have the flu … if you have one or several risk factors … please take care.

The list of fatalities with serious acute respiratory infections increased and no one wants to be next victim.

Sadly, among the deceased, there are people of productive age, with chronic diseases that cause complications: these people, although they should be protected, did not have the vaccine. According to data from the Ministry of Health, only 2 out of the 29 dead people were vaccinated.

16 of the dead were men, 4 of them were elderly men. All of them had some disease that could have complicated their infection, such as heart disease, hypertension, obesity and diabetes, among others.

They died with or due to viruses such as AH1N1 virus, AH3N3 virus and AH1N2 virus.

Among the 13 women who have lost their lives, 6 were adults and 7 were from 22 to 62 years old. They had the Influenza A virus, AH1N1 virus and AH3N3 virus.

In addition, these women had risk factors such as hypertension, kidney problems, obesity, diabetes, asthma and two of them had lung cancer.

According to the data, the highest percentage of the deceased (42%) had any complications in their heart. Among them, there was a 4-month-of-born baby with a heart disease and Down syndrome.
