MEP deducted a working day to those who went on strike in 2015

The Ministry of Public Education (MEP) deducted a working day to 3,055 officials who went on strike on September 1st, 2015: they demonstrated against the dual education project.

Recently, The Constitutional Chamber had rejected an amparo appeal that was filed under File No. 16-001090-0007-CO. It was against the measure.

The MEP is currently processing the reductions related to the officials’ absences for going on strike on June 29th, 2016.

Members of the Unit and Social Union Block of Costa Rica (BUSSCO) announced that they will go on a new strike in the coming weeks. They will demonstrate against the public employment law. However, their actions could affect the beginning of the school year of about 1 million students.

Despite this, the MEP does not say a word on measures or sanctions against the educators who participate in the movement: it does so in order not to affect their dialogues.
