In order to adapt the educational infrastructure to the student population’s necessities, the Ministry of Public Education (MEP) presented 55 new prototypes for the next 2 years.
Walter Muñoz, from the Department of Infrastructure and Educational Equipment (DIEE) from the Ministry, informed that since 2010 they have updated these infrastructures every 2 years.
We’ve updated our prototypes along with the Association of Engineers and Architects. Our new models are much better suited to weather conditions and natural lighting. In addition, by doing it, the Ministry is saving millions of colones,
explained Muñoz.
Some of the characteristics of these new buildings is their greater height, windows are oriented with the winds, some prototypes are separated to have better ventilation and iluminated corridors.
To create these new prototypes, professionals lasted about 8 months. To do so, they took into account other officials’ experience as cookers or national consultants. In addition, they visited schools. These models will be launched next year.
