The businessmen of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Costa Rica Mexico (CICOMEX) expressed their concern about the confusion in relation to documents from official Mexican agencies and that generate even more uncertainty in the importation of Mexican avocado to Costa Rica.
We call on the national authorities that have recently taken office, so that they intervene expeditiously in search of a definitive solution to an international commercial conflict that harms consumers and the commercial sector, since the previous administration did not reach an agreement,”
said Santiago Aguilar, Executive Director of the Chamber.
The group has reiterated since the beginning of this conflict in 2015 that the Hass avocado of Mexican origin does not represent a risk to human health and the existence of the viroid has never been proven to affect production.
The conflict is even discussed in the World Trade Organization (WTO).
