The Mexican Attorney General’s Office (PGR) has requested international legal assistance from Costa Rica to investigate bank accounts, property, companies or persons linked to former governor of Veracruz Javier Duarte.
Duarte is involved in a scandalous case of apparent corruption. He is under investigation for crimes of organized delinquency, operations with resources of illicit origin and other cases that will be determined during the legal process.
The politician, who is on the run, is accused of being the alleged culprit of millionaire embezzlement of resources from Veracruz government.
The request for Costa Rica’s international assistance was confirmed by the PGR on November 13th through a statement posted on its website. Furthermore, petitions were extended to Spain and the United States.
