Michael Soto takes office in the MSP: “I’m aware it won’t be easy”

On Monday, Gustavo Mata Vega said goodbye to the Ministry of Public Security and left the position in the hands of Michael Soto Rojas, who until a few days ago served as head of the Office of Plans and Operations (OPO) of the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ).

In an activity developed in the Ministry of Public Security (MSP) the change of command between officials was made. As usual, one day before the transfer of powers.

Soto will be accompanied by Luis Castillo, former OIJ, and Eduardo Solano, as deputy ministers.

I’m aware it won’t be easy and possibly it will be harder than I think. I will be able to face it with the strength of God, hopefully during four years. I want to recognize the work of the comrades who are leaving, Don Gustavo (Mata) has done a great job (…) Although the outlook is difficult, we will have to make the best effort,”

said Soto.

In the activity there were well-known faces, such as Álvaro Ramos (former Deputy Minister of Security) and members of the departing vice-ministers team.

Mata insisted that for three years he warned about the homicide wave that has affected the country and pointed out that this problem will persist for many years.
