750 migrants located in Peñas Blancas will provisionally move to a care center in Santa Cecilia de La Cruz, Guanacaste.
According to the government’s announcement, the relocation of these people started yesterday afternoon. A group of 50 migrants will firstly move to the center. Gradually, the other migrants will be relocated.
The place will have 25 tents that were donated by the United States, as well as showers, 40 portable restrooms, family areas and an administrative tent.
Migrants who are located at the edge of the Interamerican highway, as well as family groups, will be our priority,
said Mauricio Herrera, Minister of Communication.
The government estimates that by November, the places where these people are located, will be evacuated, as they are causing discomfort to the area residents.
In addition, at this time, eight Haitian citizens are being deported, and a group of 20 people will return voluntarily.
