The Ministry of Environment and Energy (MINAE) paid ¢23 million for compensation as a result of an expropriation carried out the previous year according to a report by the Comptroller General of the Republic (CGR).
According to the court’s ruling, the ministry had to pay ¢ 3,160,905 colones. However, a payment of more than 26 million colones was processed, generating a difference of ¢ 23,472,648.55.
Given the situation, the comptroller gave orders for the necessary steps to recover the money.
The Financial Management detected the problem in January 2016, and repeatedly requested a reimbursement to the Administrative Court and Civil Finance entity, which must now issue a resolution authorizing the reimbursement of the extra ¢ 23,472,648.55 to the General Fund of the State.
