Minister Alvarado declared that the opposition wants to negatively affect Guillermo Solís’ government

Full of satisfaction for achieving a renegotiation with JAPDEVA unions, which will help the country to save more than 1,400 million colones, minister of labor Carlos Alvarado was concerned about the opposition’s actions in the Legislative Assembly regarding the public employment bill.

The minister believes that legislators want to pass this bill, that has generated many negative reactions in the public sector, to negatively affect Luis Guillermo Solís’ government.

Unions threaten to start a national strike in all services to oppose this project.

Alvarado declared that due to the need of a fiscal plan, which has been a president Solís’ repeated request, legislators conditioned its approval. Now, the employment bill will be passed before approving the tax law.

From the Legislative Assembly, Rolando González and Sandra Pisk, legislators from Partido de Liberación Nacional, declared that there is not a restriction, but an agreement reached months ago, which established as first responsibility to take forward spending cuts projects and then tax projects.
