Minister of Finance relies on credit approval for $ 850 million

Minister of Finance, Rocío Aguilar, does not lose faith that the legislators authorize the government to have $850 million from two multilateral loans signed with the Inter-American Development Bank for $350 million and the other $500 millions with the Andean Development Corporation.

After the agreements to end the strike in the health sector, several legislators said that the way for the government to have those resources is complex. Although they are already signed, the endorsement of most legislators is required.

Even President Alvarado himself said he is willing to negotiate these resources with the legislators.

These loans do not represent new or additional debt, according to the Treasury and would be used to contribute to the country’s fiscal sanitation. Both loans will have a term of at least 15 years to pay them back.
