Minister of Security: Anti-drug operations have an impact in homicide reduction

Public Security Minister Michael Soto reported that, compared to the same period in 2018, Costa Rica managed to reduce the number of homicides by 49, a favorable figure considering the last years in the fight against crime.

Anti-drug operations, as he says, have become important elements, because they’ve help preventing violence between gangs and organized crime.

Costa Rica currently accounts for 218 murders, 49 less compared to the same period in 2018, when the authorities had reported 267 malicious deaths.

From his administration, the Minister indicated that he wanted the police in the street, making roadblocks and multiple tasks in preventive matters.
