Minister of Security Gustavo Mata said they are investigating the alleged trafficking of cocaine from Colombia by means of sacks of cement that arrive in containers at Costa Rican ports.
The investigation started after some reports from the TV show Witness Direct where an alleged member of a drug trafficking network pointed out the way in which drugs are introduced to this country.
It’s an interesting story. Be sure it is already been analyzed with the Colombian authorities. They are also investigating,”
said the hierarch.
Mata explained that the use of containers is a worldwide trend and practically 85% of the drug is transported by sea.
The Drug Control Police located 173 kilos of cocaine in a container that arrived in Moín on Sunday. The drug was hidden in the sides and floor of a container from the Gulf of Urabá, Antioquia, Colombia.
In addition, in Golfo Dulce, a boat with a ton of cocaine was intercepted. The authorities describe the boat as a sport fishing boat. The suspects managed to flee.
Similarly, in Golfito, the Border Police located a vehicle carrying 80 kilos of cocaine.
Finally, in La Unión an organization that sold drugs in San Diego, in the vicinity of an educational center was dismantled.
