A 17-year-old boy was killed in Caracas on Wednesday in a riot after a protest against Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, which the security forces dispersed with tear gas.
According to a video shared in social networks, the teenager bleeds from an important wound in the chest, lying in Libertador Avenue (east). The Prosecutor’s Office reported investigating the causes, while the opposition blamed the security forces.
With this death, the protests that broke out on April 1st have reached 66 fatal victims, a thousand wounded and hundreds of arrests, according to the prosecution.
The opposition denounces the savage repression by members of the Bolivarian National Guard and police, including the firing of tear gas bombs, metal pellets and marbles.
So they do not continue to kill, so that they do not continue to believe that impunity will last a lifetime for them, the only way to honor everything that happens is to continue fighting,”
said opposition MP Miguel Pizarro while expressing his grief over this death.
Maduro, on the other hand, accused his opponents of exercising “extremist violence” with the support of the United States to avoid the National Constituent Assembly.
